This new year has quite a few Disney remake movies lined up and quite a few popular sequels. There are many movies 2019 has ready to entertain us and have the opportunity to have dinner and a movie.

What Men Want 

The first movie on our list will be released just in time for valentines on February 8th. It is a take on the comedy What Women Want starring Mel Gibson. This time it’s a female actress Taraji P Henson as a sports agent that is able to hear what the men in her industry are thinking. 

This looks like a fun Valentine’s date movie if you are looking to spice up your relationship with dinner and a movie.

Dumbo

This is one of the three Disney movie remakes in 2019, hitting the screen on March 29th. The original movie hit the big screen in 1941. If you haven’t seen Dumbo have you been living under a rock?

This remake is a bit unique because it’s directed by Tim Burton. His style is unique which will be interesting to see how he combines the classic tale of Dumbo with his Tim Burton style.

Just a recap in case you don’t remember the original movie it’s about a young elephant with oversized ears that gives him the ability to fly. He is able to save a struggling circus thanks to his flying ability but then the circus plans a new venture. This is when Dumbo and his friends discover dark secrets the circus holds.

Avengers Endgame

This Avengers sequel will air April 26th. This movie will continue from 2018 Avengers: Infinity War when the universe was left in ruins due to the Mad Titan, Thanos.

The remaining allies must get together and undo Thanos’ destructive actions from Infinity War to restore the universe. 

John Wick: Chapter 3

This movie will hit the big screen on May 17th. This is the sequel the previous two John Wick movies. Recap from the ending of the last movie in 2017 John Wick played by actor Keanu Reeves has a $14 million contract out on his life.

The movie begins right where chapter 2 ends. John Wick is still on the run and eventually a new character is introduced, Sofia played by Halle Berry.

Aladdin

This is the second Disney movie remake airing in 2019. It will air on the big screens on May 24th. It’s a live-action remake of the original 1992 cartoon. This time the beloved genie will be played by Will Smith.

Dark Phoenix

This movie will air on June 7th. It’s part of the X-Men franchise which began with X-Men First Class. This sequel will be centered on the character of Jean Grey. 

James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender and the rest of the young mutants return for this fourth sequel.

Men in Black: International

This Men in Black sequel will air June 14th. The Men in Black are known for always protecting the Earth from the scum of this universe. In this sequel, they tackle their biggest threat ever.

There is a mole discovered within the Men in Black organization.

The Lion King

This third Disney remake in 2019 will air on July 19th. It’s a photorealistic computer-animated remake of the original 1994 Lion King movie.

A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood

This film will air on October 18th and it will star Tom Hanks as Fred Rogers. The movie follows a journalist who works for Esquire who is assigned to profile television icon, Mr. Rogers.

The movie was originally going to be called You are My Friend but was changed to fit the popular theme song from the original show.

The Addams Family

This movie will debut on October 18th right on time for Halloween. It will be an animated version of the Charles Addams’s series of cartoons. Well, known actress Bette Midler will be the voice of the grandmama.

Frozen 2

Another Frozen will hit the big screen in winter on November 27th right around Thanksgiving. The movie is directed by the original directors from Frozen, Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee. Original stars will also return to Arendelle including Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, and Josh Gad.

Jumanji 2

This Jumanji sequel will air on December 13th. The first Jumanji remake aired in 2017 with actors Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, and Jack Black. This sequel hasn’t released much about the plot as of today it’s still unknown. 

Star Wars: Episode IX

The final anticipated movie on our list in 2019 will air on the big screen right before Christmas on December 20th. Star Wars sequel continues on. This will be the third and final part of the Star Wars sequel trilogy.

It will also be the ninth and final film of the Star Wars Skywalker saga.
